To prepare the Cordial: Place the listed components inside a pan, bring to a light boil, agitating so the sugar melts. Next, remove from the stove and leave to cool down fully. Decant into a sterilised bottle, seal and refrigerate it in the fridge, it can be stored for up to four weeks.

For the Cocktail Base: Mix the specified spirits and syrup into one large bottle, leave to sit for one hour, then pass it through preferably using cheesecloth, making it completely strained.

When ready to serve: Measure 85ml of the batch mix into a cocktail shaker containing ice, and stir gently for about 60 seconds to chill. Strain into a frosted cocktail glass or equivalent, top with the cranberries and complete it using a quick spritz with the mandarin essence over the drink.
